1.
Scratching the surface of what I can and cannot do, Searching the miles of you. Blowing the horns to see if my words get to you, Blowing the miles of you. Marching parades to see if I walk back to you, Walking the miles of you.
2.
Section A: My heartbeat is slow, My love is slow. My love is serene, But my love is true. I would need ten lives to love you. Section B: Years of silence, how much I need you now. Years of joy, how much I never had you. In years long gone, forever to be lived, Never was I happy, never was I not. But trays of silica walk in at all times, Without explaining the meaning that lies Beyond their components, Which happen to rain in me, like silver and screams Or a silence that sings in my ears. It clinks, it clinks and it clinks It will clink for more years To come. Till death burns the son That brought me to life, The same day that I died. I shall live in hell, or else he will. He’ll bring me the tears that I never had, that I never will. Cursed be the child, ablaze as the sun, Right from within, wrong from without. Cursed be the child that slashed me in half, That waited no more for my tinges of bore. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Section C: My eyes are the well that keep the water in the village, My body is the wood that sings the wind with its shivers.
3.
I Am Not 03:56
Tell me what you want from me. Take all my gems and leave me, I am not who I thought I would be.
4.
Oh, I thought I was pleasing you, When I took all the flowers from grass I painted blue. No I wasn’t and now I know. Oh, I thought I was pleasing you, When I took all the flowers from grass I painted blue. No I wasn’t and now I know, How lost I was before you. Oh, I thought you were from the moon, All you spoke were the tongues of soft liquid perfume. No you weren’t and now I know, How lost I was before you.
5.
Headrest 04:46
Her love is my headrest.
6.
Could Divine 06:44
Section A1: Mountains and mountains on top of you. Scratching the surface of what I can and cannot do, Searching the miles of you. Section B: To be wafted across the magnificence of your figure, The miracle of death. I buried the pictures of my own dad, I buried the streets of London, oh I’m so sad, I turned the trees around, oh I’m so bad. Morris likes the day, he’s stable by afternoon. My eyes are the well that keep the water in the village, My body is the wood that sings the wind with its shivers. Be the man you say you are. I wish I didn’t have to ask you for this now, I’m far far out. At the centre of the earth, at the bottom of the universe, I’m far far out. Just be the man you say you are. Tell me what you want from me Take all my gems and leave Take all my gems and leave me. If I could divine. Fertility shot my sadness in the face. Section A: In this world of unfamiliar diseases I may catch one. In this world of unfamiliar diseases I may catch one. In this world of unfamiliar diseases. If you don’t come home, this is what I’ll do
7.
Vertical 03:37
I’d love to be going vertical, always vertical But I’m not. Life weighs on me, And I am coming down Horizontally.
8.
Breather 00:36
9.
Death 04:08
I was ablaze, I was basking in your ritual Waiting for the perfect day. The Holy Spirit dwelt where you opened and I submerged, For the water reflects the colour of your breasts, And I nuzzle them with puny screams. To be wafted across the magnificence of your figure, The miracle of death. If only we were birds.

about

Could Divine is the debut album from anrimeal, the recording project of Ana Rita de Melo Alves.

A ‘computer folk’ record exploring the use of texture, limitation and repetition, Could Divine takes its cue from post-minimalism, particularly Eva Hesse and other women artists who pioneered the movement. Informed by Ana’s full control of the record-making process and the bedroom environment where it was created, the album is a deeply personal window into a protean creative mind - at times devastating, playful, mystical and earthbound, often in the space of a single track.

Originally from Porto, Ana moved to her current home of London in 2016, where she founded the ambitious DIY label Demo Records. While using this imprint to amplify other leftfield bedroom talents around the world. Ana developed the anrimeal project in semi-secret, keeping her finished debut album on the proverbial shelf.

The enforced isolation of 2020’s lockdown turned out to be the clincher for Could Divine. During her first solo gig as part of the Quarantunes livestream series, Ana quietly snuck the digital album onto Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis. Inspired by the traction gained from this first outing, Ana’s own Demo Records are now teaming up with south-east London’s Crossness Records to give this beautiful record a full physical release on limited edition yellow vinyl.
